The Maine Sabers (12-1) fell to the Connecticut Panthers (12-1) in the New England Football League championship Saturday by a score of 35-14. The Panthers scored first on touchdown runs by league MVP Jamie Bryant of 14 and 22 yards to take a 14-0 lead. The Sabers closed two 14–7 on a 6 yard touchdown run by John Wiechman, but the Panther's Ankwan Shabazz answered with a touchdown catch of 30 yards, making the score at halftime 21–7. (more)
